Croissant Filling: Top 6 Types of Croissant Variations | Theobroma

What’s better than a warm, flaky, buttery croissant? A croissant with a delicious filling! While plain croissants taste great with tea or coffee, croissants with fillings can be enjoyed as is as their fillings pack a flavourful punch. You can enjoy store-bought croissants with different croissant fillings or add your own fillings to give your favourite croissants a tasty update.

Here are some of the tastiest types of croissant fillings:

Nutella and strawberry croissant

Nutella and strawberries taste great with croissants. The tangy strawberries balance the sweetness of the Nutella and both ingredients complement the biscuity flavour of the croissant. All you need to do is slice your croissant in half, apply some Nutella on the sliced sections followed by chopped strawberries. Place the two halves together and voila! your tasty croissant is ready to eat!


Croissant breakfast boat

To make this dish, make a cut in the middle of a large croissant and use your fingers to push the sides apart and create a gap. Create a mixture of eggs, scallions, mushroom and cheese and spoon the mixture into the gap. Season with salt and pepper. Next, cover the top of the croissant with aluminium foil and bake it for 20-25 minutes at 190 degrees Celsius in an oven. Serve warm.

Croissant French toast

Instead of bread, you can use croissants to make French toast. Slice your croissants in half and set aside. In a bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, eggs, salt and vanilla essence. Dip the halves in this mixture and then pan-fry them with some butter. Fry until both sides are golden brown. You can enjoy your croissant French toast with fresh fruits, whipped cream or maple syrup!

Croissant aux amandes

Also known as almond croissants, they are made with a filling of almond cream and garnished with sliced almonds. The croissants are then re-baked till they attain a crispy texture.

Croissant caprese sandwich

This wholesome sandwich is perfect to silence your hunger pangs. Slice your croissant in half. Apply pesto sauce followed by slices of mozzarella cheese, slices of sun-dried or cherry tomatoes, and arugula or basil leaves. Brush the croissant with some melted butter and toast in the oven for a few minutes. Your flavourful sandwich is ready!

Chocolate croissant
